The Freedom Seekers project was celebrated in a major public event hosted by the Wisconsin Historical Society in May 2026. Approximately five hundred members of the public attended, speaking with student interns and project faculty who stood besides posters of their Freedom Seeker stories. Following a reception, project leader Prof. Gloria Whiting delivered a PBS Wisconsin “University Place” lecture entitled “Freedom from Slavery During the American Revolutionary Era.”
